Mamta Sharma is an Indian playback singer known for her contributions to the music industry. She gained widespread recognition for her song "Munni Badnaam Hui" from the film Dabangg and "Tinku Jiya" from Yamla Pagla Deewana. Both songs became chartbusters and earned her numerous awards and nominations, including a Filmfare award for Best Playback Singer (Female).
Born in Birla Nagar, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, Mamta Sharma completed her studies at Saint Paul's School in Morar, Gwalior. She displayed a passion for performing on stage during her school years and actively participated in various events. She also performed with her band at family functions such as marriage receptions and parties.
Before venturing into Bollywood and Bengali music, Mamta Sharma lent her voice to many Bhojpuri albums. It was music director Lalit Pandit who discovered her talent and gave her a breakthrough opportunity in the hit movie Dabangg, where she sang the popular item song "Munni Badnaam Hui." She also lent her voice to the song "Kevvu Keka" in the Telugu remake of Dabangg titled Gabbar Singh. Mamta Sharma went on to deliver other hit songs like "Fevicol Se" and "Tooh" in subsequent projects.
