Maitrayee Patar is an Indian writer, poet, and musical artist from Assam. She is best known for her contributions to Assamese literature and new-age music.
Born on April 7, 1990, in Guwahati, Maitrayee Patar belongs to the Tiwa community, which is an indigenous tribal community. She completed her post-graduation in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics and further pursued a Master of Philosophy in Women's Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai.
In the field of literature, Maitrayee Patar has authored a poetry book titled "Mor Kolmou Dinor Xonali Baat," published in 2015. Her poetry often explores and reflects upon the natural world and the lives of women. Her poems have been translated into various Indian and foreign languages, including Italian, Tiwa, Nepali, Hindi, and Malayalam. She is a regular contributor to esteemed literary magazines such as Krittibas, Satsori, Prakash, Nebedan, and Jatra.
Maitrayee Patar is also involved in the realm of music, particularly in the genre of new-age music. She is associated with the music label Baartalaap. Her alternative rock song "Dur Ximonat" gained recognition and was featured in Rolling Stone India's first playlist of 2020.
In 2020, Maitrayee Patar got married to Arindam Baruah, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B).
