Kapoor gained initial fame with her debut song "Jugni Ji" in 2012, which was a music video and became a commercial success. However, her breakthrough in Bollywood came in 2014 with the song "Baby Doll" from the film Ragini MMS 2. The song topped music charts and Kapoor received widespread acclaim for her singing style. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the song.

Following her success, Kapoor went on to deliver a series of hit songs in Bollywood. In March 2020, Kapoor faced controversy when she tested positive for COVID-19 after attending parties in Lucknow despite the Ministry of Health's home quarantine advisory. A complaint was lodged against her for negligence.
