Ishant Sharma, born on September 2, 1988, is an accomplished Indian cricketer known for his contributions in Test, One Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I) formats. Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches, he is a right-arm fast-medium bowler. His cricketing journey began at the age of 18 when he was called up to join the Indian squad for the tour of South Africa in 2006–07, although he was later deselected.
Ishant's height and lean physique earned him the nickname "Lambu" during his Under-19 days. Over the years, he established himself as a key player in the Indian cricket team. In 2011, he became the fifth youngest player to reach 100 Test wickets. Known for his rhythm and the ability to consistently bowl above 150 km/h, Ishant Sharma has been one of the fastest Indian bowlers. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Arjuna Award by the Indian government in 2020.
He was also part of the Indian team that clinched victory in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Throughout his career, Ishant has been a potent force in Test cricket, frequently leading India's fast-bowling attack with his skills and experience. In February 2021, he achieved the milestone of 300 Test wickets.
In domestic cricket, Ishant represents Delhi. He showcased his talent early on, including a notable performance of taking eight wickets for 10 runs on his first-class debut. He also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL), initially for the Kolkata Knight Riders and later for teams like the Deccan Chargers and Delhi Capitals.
