Bhuvneshwar Kumar Singh, born on February 5, 1990, is a prominent Indian international cricketer known for his exceptional swing bowling skills. He represents India and plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. Renowned for his mastery of swinging the ball both ways, Kumar's inswing deliveries are particularly effective. He evolved into a versatile bowler, incorporating reverse swing, slower balls, and yorkers, excelling as a death overs specialist.
Kumar's career highlights include winning the Purple Cap in consecutive IPL seasons and being a key figure in India's victory at the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Notably, he's the sole bowler to have taken wickets on his first ball in both T20Is and ODIs. His prowess extends to Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, as he holds the distinction of being India's first bowler to secure a five-wicket haul in each format. During the 2022 Asia Cup, he emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 11 wickets.
Born in Meerut, Kumar's journey into cricket was influenced by his sister, who introduced him to the sport at a young age. He made his first-class debut at 17 and gained recognition for dismissing Sachin Tendulkar for a duck in the 2008/09 Ranji Trophy final.
In the IPL, he started with Royal Challengers Bangalore and later joined Sunrisers Hyderabad, earning the Purple Cap in 2016. His international debut was in 2012 against Pakistan.
