Sunny Deol, born Ajay Singh Dharmendra Deol on October 19, 1956, is an Indian actor, film director, producer, and politician. He is known for his work in over 100 Hindi films and is often recognized as an angry action hero. Deol gained wide recognition and praise for his portrayal of an amateur boxer wrongly accused of his brother's murder in the film "Ghayal" (1990). This role earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and the National Film Award.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Sunny Deol starred in numerous successful films and established himself as one of the top stars of that time. Some of his notable films include "Darr" (1993), "Jeet" (1996), "Ghatak" (1996), "Border" (1997), "Salaakhen" (1998), and "Arjun Pandit" (1999). One of his most successful films was "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" (2001), which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film at the time.
In addition to acting, Sunny Deol made his directorial debut with the film "Dillagi" (1999), in which he also starred alongside his brother Bobby Deol and Urmila Matondkar. He has since directed films like "Ghayal Once Again" (2016) and "Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas" (2019), which marked the debut of his son Karan Deol as an actor.
Sunny Deol is also involved in politics and is an incumbent Member of Parliament from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab, India. He has won two National Film Awards for Best Actor and two Filmfare Awards throughout his career.
In his personal life, Sunny Deol is married to Pooja Deol (also known as Lynda Deol) and they have two sons named Karan and Rajveer. Karan Deol has also entered the film industry as an actor.
