Sumeet Vyas, born on July 27, 1983, is an Indian actor and writer known for his work in films, web series, and theatre. He gained widespread recognition for his breakthrough role as Mikesh Chaudhary in TVF's web series "Permanent Roommates" in 2014. Since then, he has played supporting roles in Bollywood films such as "English Vinglish," "Parched," "Guddu Ki Gun," and "Veere Di Wedding." In 2016, he had his first starring role in the drama film "Ribbon," which received critical acclaim for his performance. Apart from his work in films and television, Sumeet Vyas also appears in theatre productions in India.
Sumeet Vyas was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to writer B.M Vyas and Sudha Vyas. He spent his early years in Jodhpur before moving to Mumbai to pursue his passion for acting and writing. He attended R.D. National College in Mumbai. While he initially aspired to become a pilot or computer engineer during his school days, his love for acting and writing eventually led him to choose those fields. He gave up his college studies and started working as an assistant editor in an editing studio in Mumbai.
He made his television debut with a small role in the Doordarshan serial "Woh Huye Na Humare." He then starred in the TV show "Rehna Hai Teri Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein" as Karthik. Sumeet Vyas has been actively involved in theatre since his early days as an actor. He also had a major role in the TV series "Stories by Rabindranath Tagore." His Bollywood debut came with the movie "Jashn" in 2009, followed by his role in "English Vinglish." He has worked in more than 30 movies, including "Guddu Ki Gun," "Parched," "Aurangzeb," and "Kajarya."
Sumeet Vyas has also been part of several web series, most notably "Permanent Roommates" and "TVF Tripling," the latter of which he co-wrote. He has written the Y-Films web series "Bang Baaja Baaraat." In 2017, he starred in a web campaign by BigRock.
Personally, Sumeet Vyas is an active supporter of theatre and has expressed his enjoyment in working as a theatre artist rather than focusing solely on Bollywood. He was previously married to actress Shivani Tanksale for seven years. Later, he married TV actress Ekta Kaul on September 15, 2018. The couple has been blessed with a baby boy.
