Sonu Sood, born on July 30, 1973, is an Indian actor, film producer, model, humanitarian, and philanthropist. He primarily works in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films. Sood has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances, including the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Villain and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor - Telugu for his role in the Telugu film "Arundhati" (2009).
He gained further recognition with his negative roles in films like "Dabangg" (2010), for which he won the Apsara Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and the IIFA Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role. Some of his notable works include "Yuva" (2004), "Athadu" (2005), "Jodhaa Akbar" (2008), "Shootout at Wadala" (2013), "Simmba" (2018), and "Kurukshetra" (2019).
Apart from his acting career, Sonu Sood has ventured into film production with his production house called Shakti Sagar Productions, which he established in 2016. He has also appeared in commercials for brands like Apollo Tyres and Airtel.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sood gained widespread recognition for his humanitarian efforts. He helped thousands of migrant workers and other people in need by arranging transportation, providing meals, and supporting healthcare services. In recognition of his philanthropic work, he was honored with the ‛SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award’ by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2020.
In June 2022, Sonu Sood launched his own social media app called Explurger.
Sood completed his education at Sacred Heart School in Moga and Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) in Nagpur.
In addition to his film career, Sonu Sood also hosted the popular reality show MTV Roadies - Season 18 in South Africa in 2022, where he highlighted the learning experiences he gained from the show.
