Bhushan Kumar Dua, born on November 27, 1977 (exact citation needed), is an Indian film producer and music producer. He is the chairman and managing director of Super Cassettes Industries Limited, popularly known as T-Series. Bhushan Kumar is renowned for his contributions to the Bollywood industry.
According to the Hurun Rich List of 2022, he was ranked as the 175th richest Indian with a net worth of 1000 crores INR (approximately 700 million USD).
Bhushan Kumar took over the music company T-Series in 1998, alongside his uncle Krishan Kumar, following the tragic murder of his father, Gulshan Kumar. He assumed the position of chairman and managing director of the company. Under his leadership, Kumar diversified T-Series' business into electronics, CDs, audio/video tapes, cassettes, and film production. He was honored by the Government of India's Electronics and Software Export Promotion Council for his contributions in popularizing Indian music overseas.
After establishing T-Series' presence in the music market, Bhushan Kumar ventured into film production. He has produced commercially successful films such as "Tum Bin," "Bhool Bhulaiyaa," "Patiala House," "Ready," and "Lucky: No Time for Love."
In 2001, Bhushan Kumar made his debut as a producer with the film "Tum Bin," which garnered success and marked the debut of its lead star cast, as well as the director Anubhav Sinha.
In 2013, he produced "Nautanki Saala" and released the remake of "Aashiqui" titled "Aashiqui 2," which proved to be a turning point for T-Series as it became one of the super hits of 2013.
Bhushan Kumar's subsequent projects include films like "Yaariyan," a youth-based film directed by his wife Divya Khosla Kumar, and the revival of B.R. Chopra Films with "Bhoothnath Returns" in 2014. He also ventured into the horror thriller genre with "Creature 3D," directed by Vikram Bhatt and starring Bipasha Basu and Imran Abbas.
T-Series has collaborated with renowned directors such as Madhur Bhandarkar, Milan Luthria, Anurag Basu, and Mohit Suri.
On April 3, 2017, Bhushan Kumar signed a contract with Akshay Kumar for the film "Mogul," an official biopic based on the life of his father. However, Akshay Kumar later quit the film, and Aamir Khan briefly agreed to take on the role before also stepping away, and eventually returning to the project.
