Ranjini Jose is an Indian playback singer known for her contributions to Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi cinema. With a career spanning over 20 years, she has lent her voice to over 200 films and has also ventured into acting. Ranjini made her debut in the Chorus Peters Chochin Chorus Troupe in 1998 and subsequently made her playback singing debut in the Malayalam film "Melevaryathe Malakhakkuttikal" alongside K. S. Chithra.
Born on April 4, 1984, in Chennai, Ranjini was raised in Chennai and later moved to Kochi. She completed her schooling in various schools, including Sacred Heart Church Park in Chennai, MET Public School in Perumbavoor, and Bhavans Vidya Mandir in Elamakkara. Growing up in a musically inclined family, she developed a keen interest in performing arts and drew inspiration from artists like Ilayaraja, S Janaki, ABBA, Boney M, and Michael Jackson.
Ranjini's involvement in the Cochin Chorus Troupe during her 9th grade exposed her to the world of music performance. Her first film recording experience came when she was in the 12th grade, singing for the movie "Melevaryathe Malakhakkuttikal." Since then, her career as a playback singer flourished, with her lending her voice to numerous movies across languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. She has collaborated with renowned composers such as Ilayaraja, M Jayachandran, Alphons, Jassie Gift, Deepak Dev, and Shankar Mahadevan, among others.
In addition to her singing career, Ranjini has also acted in several Malayalam films, including "Red Achilles" (2009), "Drona" (2010), and "Basheerinte Premalekhanam" (2017). In November 2017, she fulfilled her longtime dream of forming a band and founded the five-piece band Eka, where she serves as the lead vocalist. Eka explores various genres, including Hindustani, Carnatic music, Folk music, Indian pop, and Rock music.
