Shivam Mavi, born on 26 November 1998, is an Indian international cricketer renowned for his right-arm fast-medium bowling abilities. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in January 2023, making a significant impact early in his international career.
Mavi's journey in cricket began with his inclusion in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad after being bought in the 2018 IPL auction. He marked his Twenty20 debut for KKR in the 2018 Indian Premier League season, showcasing his bowling prowess.
During the opening day of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mavi made headlines by securing a hat-trick while playing for Uttar Pradesh against Saurashtra. His potential was further displayed during his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, where he took a 4-wicket haul against Goa. He continued to impress by achieving his maiden five-wicket haul in his second first-class match against Odisha.
Mavi's talent did not go unnoticed, as he was named in India's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His performances led to his selection in the India A cricket team for the 2018 India Quadrangular Series, where he made his List A debut against South Africa A in August 2018.
His promising journey continued with his inclusion in India's team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup and later replacing the injured Arshdeep Singh in the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
In December 2022, Mavi received his maiden call-up to the Indian cricket team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He made his T20I debut for India on 3 January 2023, delivering a remarkable performance by taking 4 wickets for 22 runs. His outstanding spell played a crucial role in India's thrilling 2-run victory over Sri Lanka in the opening T20I match.
