Male Cricketer
Rahul Ajay Tripathi, born on 2 March 1991, is an emerging Indian cricketer who has made his mark in both domestic and international cricket.
Tripathi's cricket journey began in the domestic arena, where he played for Maharashtra. In the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, he emerged as the leading run-scorer for his team, amassing 504 runs in eight matches.
His exploits in domestic cricket earned him opportunities in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was initially picked up by the Rising Pune Supergiants in the 2017 IPL season. Subsequently, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction. He also played for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 IPL season. In the 2022 IPL auction, he was acquired by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Tripathi's entry into the international arena came in June 2022 when he was selected for India's T20I squad for a series against Ireland. Following this, he was named in the One Day International (ODI) squad for India's series against Zimbabwe in the same year. His consistent performances paved the way for his inclusion in India's T20I series against Sri Lanka in December 2022.
On 5 January 2023, at the age of 31, Tripathi made his debut in Twenty20 International cricket for India against Sri Lanka in the second match of the series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. However, he was dismissed for just 5 runs in his debut innings.
Tripathi's cricket journey showcases his versatility as a player, transitioning from domestic to franchise cricket and eventually earning his spot in the Indian national team. Despite a modest debut in international cricket, his consistent performances in various formats suggest that he has the potential to become a valuable asset for the Indian cricket team in the future
