Rahul Tewatia, born on 20 May 1993, is an Indian cricketer known for his versatile skills as an all-rounder. He hails from Haryana and plays for his state team in domestic cricket, while also representing Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Tewatia bats left-handed and bowls right-arm leg spin. His journey in cricket has been marked by impressive performances and moments of brilliance.
Tewatia's cricket career began with his debut for Haryana during the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy. He made his presence felt by showcasing his skills as a valuable all-rounder. He made his List A debut for Haryana in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, further solidifying his reputation as a promising cricketer.
His entry into the IPL was marked by his debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2014. Over the years, he moved to different IPL teams, including Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), before returning to the Rajasthan Royals. However, it was during his stint with the Rajasthan Royals in 2020 that he truly came into the limelight. He achieved a remarkable feat by hitting five consecutive sixes in an over, equalling Chris Gayle's record. His performance in that match, where he scored 53 runs in 31 balls, contributed significantly to his team's chase of a high target.
Tewatia's contributions in the IPL led to his maiden international call-up for India's T20I squad for their series against England in February 2021. This recognition marked an important step in his cricket journey, reflecting his growth as a player.
