Joshi's passion for writing stories and plays developed during his school days. He actively participated in annual competitions for Gujarati dramas and won multiple awards. Apart from teaching, he was involved in theatre activities and wrote numerous plays and skits in Gujarati and English.
One of Joshi's notable works is the play "A Shaft of Sunlight," which he wrote during the 1992 Gujarat riots. The play received critical acclaim, and it caught the attention of director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, leading to their collaboration on the films "Kareeb" and "Mission Kashmir." The play was later adapted as "Marmbhed" in Gujarati and performed by the UK-based Tamasha Theatre Company in collaboration with the Greenwich Repertory Company, with over 300 shows.
Joshi's writing is influenced by the teachings of Sane Guruji, a noted Marathi social reformer. His father, Jayant Joshi, a Sane Guruji scholar, introduced him to the profound concept of dharma as seen by Sane Guruji, which greatly influenced his storytelling.
