Juhi Chaturvedi is an Indian screenwriter known for her work in Hindi films. Born on February 24, 1975, she has made significant contributions to the Bollywood industry through her well-crafted scripts.
Originally from Lucknow, Juhi Chaturvedi completed her graduation from the Lucknow College of Arts. She began her career as a freelance illustrator with The Times of India in Lucknow. In 1996, she shifted to Delhi and joined Ogilvy & Mather, a renowned advertising agency, as an art director. After three years, she moved to the agency's Mumbai office in 1999. Over the years, she worked with various advertising agencies, including McCann and Bates, where she held the position of creative director.
Juhi Chaturvedi's collaboration with director Shoojit Sircar in the advertising industry paved the way for her entry into the world of filmmaking. She worked on ad films for renowned brands such as Titan watches and Saffola. Additionally, she wrote the dialogues for Shoebite, a film directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Amitabh Bachchan. However, the film was ultimately shelved.
In 2012, Juhi Chaturvedi made her mark in the film industry with her debut screenplay for the movie "Vicky Donor." The film, directed by Shoojit Sircar, dealt with the concept of sperm donation and received critical acclaim. Juhi Chaturvedi's script for "Vicky Donor" earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Story in 2013.
Her collaboration with Shoojit Sircar continued with the film "Piku" in 2015, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan. The film, a heartwarming story about the relationship between a father and daughter, showcased Juhi Chaturvedi's exceptional storytelling skills. She received the National Film Award for Best Original Screenplay and Best Dialogues for "Piku" and won the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay in 2016.
Juhi Chaturvedi has further demonstrated her talent as a screenwriter with films like "October" (2018), directed by Shoojit Sircar, and "Gulabo Sitabo" (2020), directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana.
In 2013, Juhi Chaturvedi joined the advertising agency Leo Burnett Mumbai as an Executive Creative Director, further showcasing her expertise in the advertising industry.
