Mohit Chauhan (born March 11, 1966) is an Indian playback singer known for his work in Hindi films. He was a part of the Silk Route band. Chauhan has received two Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and three GIMA (Global Indian Music Academy) Awards for Best Male Playback Singer. He has recorded numerous songs for films and albums in various languages and is considered one of the prominent indie-pop singers.
Chauhan formed the band Silk Route along with Kem Trivedi, Atul Mittal, and Kenny Puri. Chauhan was the vocalist, Kem played the keyboards, Atul Mittal was the lead guitarist, and Kenny Puri played the drums. Their first album, "Boondein," was released in 1998 and included popular songs like "Dooba Dooba" and "Pahchan." Their second album was released in 2000. After Silk Route disbanded in 2008, Chauhan released another album titled "Fitoor" in 2009.
Chauhan's film singing career began in 2002 when he sang the song "Pehli Nazar Mein Dari Thi" for the film Road. His notable songs include "Khoon Chala" from Rang De Basanti and "Tum Se Hi" from Jab We Met. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song "Masakali" in 2010.
In 2011, he was featured in the third season of MTV Unplugged for his song "Maya." He also appeared on MTV Unplugged in the same year. In 2017, he made his debut in the Gujarati language with the song "Jag Re Banda" from the film Last Chance. His first Himachali songs were "Puche Amma" and "Deva Mere" from the film Saanj.
