Diljit Dosanjh, born on 6 January 1984 in Dosanjh Kalan, Jalandhar, is an Indian singer-songwriter, actor, film producer, and television personality. He is primarily known for his work in Punjabi music and has subsequently made a mark in Punjabi and Hindi cinema. Diljit Dosanjh gained recognition in the Punjabi music industry with albums like "Smile" (2005), "Chocolate" (2008), and "The Next Level" (2009) in collaboration with Yo Yo Honey Singh.
In 2011, he made his acting debut in the Punjabi film "The Lion of Punjab." He then ventured into Bollywood with the crime thriller "Udta Punjab" in 2016, for which he received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He further appeared in films like "Good Newwz" (2019), earning another nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Diljit Dosanjh has achieved significant success in Punjabi cinema, with movies like "Jatt & Juliet 2," "Punjab 1984," "Sajjan Singh Rangroot," and "Honsla Rakh" ranking among the highest-grossing Punjabi films in history. He has won multiple PTC Awards for Best Actor.
Besides his music and acting career, Diljit Dosanjh has served as a judge on the reality show "Rising Star." In 2020, his album "G.O.A.T." charted on the Social 50 chart by Billboard, making him the first Punjabi artist to achieve this feat. He also became the first Punjabi artist to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2023.
