In the early 2000s, Bohemia made a significant move to join his cousin in Oakland, California. His cousin was working at a recording studio in West Oakland, where Bohemia was introduced to a talented hip-hop producer named Sha One (Seth Agress). Recognizing their shared passion for music, they decided to form their own record label, which they named "The Outfit Entertainment."
During their collaboration, Sha One heard Bohemia reciting Punjabi lyrics and was impressed. He asked Bohemia to rap those lyrics over one of his beats, and they began working on creating music together. Over the following months, Bohemia wrote a collection of lyrics, which would serve as the foundation for his debut album titled "Vich Pardesan De" (In The Foreign Land). The album reflected an autobiographical account of Bohemia's life as a Desi youngster adapting to the streets of America. Both Bohemia and Sha One produced the album.
Although their first single, "Sha Te Ra," was released as a music video, it did not make it onto the final tracklist of "Vich Pardesan De." The album marked Bohemia's introduction to the music industry and showcased his unique style and storytelling abilities. It laid the groundwork for his subsequent success and established him as a pioneer of Punjabi rap and Desi hip-hop.
Bohemia's collaboration with Sha One and the creation of "Vich Pardesan De" set the stage for his influential career, leaving a lasting impact on the Punjabi music scene and paving the way for future Desi artists to embrace hip-hop as a means of expression.
