Colonel Lalit Rai is a distinguished former officer of the Indian Army who played a crucial role in the Kargil War during Operation Vijay. He led the GORKHA RIFLES in capturing the strategic heights of Khalubar in the Batalik sub-sector, making significant contributions to the success of the operation.

Col. Lalit Rai's battalion was specially chosen and deployed as one of the first units in the Kargil conflict in 1999. Throughout his three-decade-long career in the Indian Army, he conducted over 100 major counter-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir, demonstrating exceptional courage and resilience. He encountered numerous life-threatening situations, facing death on more than 20 occasions.

His exemplary service and leadership have earned him numerous accolades and awards, including the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card, Sunil Dutt Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Bhansali Inspirational Leadership Award, Rotary Youth Icon Award, and the Service Excellence Award (SERA).

After the Kargil War, Col. Lalit Rai was felicitated by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Defense Minister George Fernandes for his remarkable contributions. He was honored with the Vir Chakra, one of India's highest gallantry awards, by the President of India in recognition of his inspirational leadership and extraordinary valor in the face of adversity.

Currently, Col. Lalit Rai serves as the Managing Director of a Management Consulting company and an Export company based in Pune.
