Amish Tripathi is an Indian author and diplomat known for his bestselling books, including the Shiva Trilogy and Ram Chandra Series. Born on October 18, 1974, in Mumbai, he grew up near Rourkela, Odisha. Tripathi attended Cathedral & John Connon School, St. Xavier's College in Mumbai, and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Tripathi's writing career took off with the publication of his first novel, "The Immortals of Meluha," in February 2010. This book marked the beginning of the Shiva Trilogy, with the subsequent novels "The Secret of the Nagas" (2011) and "The Oath of the Vayuputras" (2013) completing the series.
In June 2015, Tripathi released "The Scion of Ikshvaku," the first book in the Ram Chandra Series, which serves as a prequel to the Shiva Trilogy. The series continued with "Sita: Warrior of Mithila" (2017), "Raavan: The Enemy of Aryavarta" (2019), and "War of Lanka" (2022). He also ventured into historical fiction with "Legend of Suheldev: The King Who Saved India" in June 2020.
Aside from fiction, Tripathi has written non-fiction books such as "Immortal India" (2017) and "Dharma: Decoding the Epics for a Meaningful Life" (2020). His works have been widely translated into regional and international languages, making them accessible to a broader audience.
In addition to his writing career, Tripathi serves as Minister (Culture & Education) at the High Commission of India in the UK and is the Director of the Nehru Centre in London. He has also hosted TV documentaries, including "Legends of the Ramayan" and "The Journey of India" with Amitabh Bachchan.
