Neeraj Kabi is an Indian actor, theatre director, and acting coach known for his work in international films, Hindi cinema, theatre, and television. He was born on March 12, 1968, in Jamshedpur, Bihar (now Jharkhand). He completed his schooling at Loyola School in Jamshedpur and later pursued a diploma in computer science from Symbiosis College in Pune.
In his career, Neeraj Kabi has worked as a professional actor, director, and trainer. He has collaborated with renowned national and international directors in both theatre and film. As a theatre director, he has explored the concept of merging traditional Indian artists with urban actors to interpret Indian and global theatre texts. He has conducted theatre and acting workshops across India, focusing on deep explorations of theatre philosophies, sciences, and arts.
In theatre, Neeraj Kabi has performed major roles in plays by notable playwrights such as Shakespeare, Tom Stoppard, Molière, Chekov, Oscar Wilde, Ibsen, Margurite Duras, Florian Zeller, and others. He has worked with directors from France, Israel, the USA, and India, including Jean Jacques Bellot, Eric Vigner, Gil Alon, Rene Migliaccio, Atul Kumar, Rehaan Engineer, and Naseeruddin Shah.
As a filmmaker, Neeraj Kabi made his debut in 1997 with the film "The Last Vision," directed by A.K. Bir and produced by the NFDC (National Film Development Corporation). Despite facing struggles in the film industry, Neeraj Kabi persevered and took on various jobs to sustain himself, including production work, assistant directing, selling books door-to-door, and teaching tuitions.
