Gulshan Devaiah is an Indian actor known for his work primarily in Hindi films. He was born on May 28, 1978, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Devaiah is a graduate of NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) and initially worked in the fashion industry for 10 years after completing his education.
His Bollywood journey began with minor roles in English theatre in Bangalore. After gaining experience in theater, he moved to Mumbai to pursue bigger opportunities in the film industry. In 2010, Devaiah made his film debut with Anurag Kashyap's short film "That Girl in Yellow Boots," starring alongside Kalki Koechlin and Naseeruddin Shah. The film received critical acclaim and was screened at prestigious film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.
In 2011, Devaiah appeared in Rohan Sippy's crime thriller "Dum Maaro Dum" and Bejoy Nambiar's Hindi thriller "Shaitan." His role in "Shaitan" earned him critical praise, and he received nominations for several awards for his performance, including the Filmfare Awards and Screen Awards.
In 2012, Devaiah had his first lead role in the erotic thriller "Hate Story." He played the antagonistic character Siddharth Dhanrajgir and received positive reviews for his performance. The film was a sleeper hit at the box office. He also appeared in Vasan Bala's crime thriller "Peddlers," which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
Devaiah continued to showcase his versatility as an actor in films like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Ram-Leela" (2013), Harshavardhan Kulkarni's adult comedy "Hunterrr" (2015), and Vivek Agnihotri's "Junooniyat" (2016). He gained recognition for his double role in the action comedy film "Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota" (2018), for which he won the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Apart from films, Devaiah has also appeared in web series such as Amazon Prime's "Afsos" (2020) and Netflix's "Ghost Stories" (2020). He has garnered a reputation for his versatile performances and continues to impress audiences with his acting skills.
