Ankur Rathee is an Indian-born American actor known for his work in both television and film. He gained recognition for his role in the Amazon Prime Video show "Four More Shots Please" (2019-2020).
Born on March 24, 1991, in Hisar, Haryana, Ankur attended The Bishop's School, where he graduated cum laude in 2009. He later studied at Princeton University, where he received training under renowned figures such as Tony Award winner John Rando, Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman, and Academy Award nominee Christina Lazaridi. Ankur also briefly studied filmmaking at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. After completing his education, he initially worked for an advertising technology firm in New York City before deciding to pursue acting full-time.
Ankur's interest in the performing arts began during his student years, where he actively participated in musical theater productions, a cappella groups, and dance companies. He started his professional acting career in New York City, appearing in short films and off-Broadway theater productions. In 2018, he returned to the stage, starring as the lead in Tammy Ryan's play "Baby's Blues," alongside Ila Arun and K.K. Raina, which premiered at the National Centre for the Performing Arts. However, it was his role as Arjun Nair, the young intern, in "Four More Shots Please!" that brought him notable recognition. He also played a gay love interest opposite Arjun Mathur in the Amazon Prime series "Made in Heaven."
Ankur made his feature film debut alongside veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in "The Tashkent Files." He further appeared in films like "Thappad" alongside Taapsee Pannu and "Taish" alongside Jim Sarbh. He also took on lead roles in the crime thriller series "Undekhi" and the Marathi film "Nirmal En Route." Additionally, he portrayed the role of Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in the film "Sarabha: Cry for Freedom."
