Shilpa Shinde is an Indian television actress best known for her portrayal of Angoori Tiwari in the TV show "Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!" on &TV. She gained further fame by winning the reality show Bigg Boss 11 in 2017.
Shilpa Shinde was born on 28 August 1977 in a Maharashtrian family. Her father, Dr. Satyadeo Shinde, was a High Court judge, and her mother, Geeta Satyadeo Shinde, is a homemaker. She has two elder sisters and a younger brother. Shilpa initially studied psychology but did not complete her bachelor's degree as her interest shifted towards acting.
In her personal life, Shilpa Shinde was in a relationship with actor Romit Raj, whom she met on the set of the TV show "Maayka" in 2007. The couple got engaged in 2009 but later called off their engagement. Shilpa went through a period of depression after her father passed away in 2013 due to Alzheimer's disease. Her father did not initially support her decision to pursue acting, but she eventually pursued her passion and became an actress.
Shilpa Shinde made her television debut in 1999 and gained recognition for her role in the serial "Bhabhi." She appeared in several other shows such as "Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai," "Sanjeevani," "Amrapali," and "Miss India." In 2004, she played the parallel lead role in the show "Meher - Kahani Haq Aur Haqeeqat Ki." Shilpa also acted in Telugu films "Chhina" and "Shivani."
Her breakthrough role came in the sitcom "Chidiya Ghar" on SAB TV, where she portrayed the character of Koyal Narayan. She left the show in 2014 due to personal issues and was replaced by Shubhangi Atre. Shilpa gained immense popularity for her role as Angoori Bhabhi in "&TV's Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!" However, she quit the show in 2016, citing issues with the makers and accusing them of mental torture. Shubhangi Atre replaced her in the role.
In 2017, Shilpa Shinde participated in the reality show "Bigg Boss 11" and emerged as the winner, gaining a significant fan following. She has also appeared in other shows like "Gangs of Filmistan" and portrayed the role of Queen Meerawati in the web series "Paurashpur" in 2020. In 2022, she participated in "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10" and later appeared in a cameo role as ACP Naina Mathur in Sony SAB's "Maddam Sir" in 2023.
