Nikhil Kumaraswamy is an Indian actor and politician renowned for his contributions to Kannada cinema. He marked his acting debut with the bilingual film "Jaguar" (2016), which was released in both Kannada and Telugu.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy comes from a notable political lineage. He is the son of former Karnataka Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy and the grandson of former Indian Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda.
In his personal life, Nikhil got engaged to Revathi, the grand-niece of Congress leader and realtor M. Krishnappa, on February 10, 2020, at the Taj West End Bangalore. Their wedding took place on April 17, 2020, near Janapada Loka in Ramanagara, and the couple is now blessed with a son.
Nikhil ventured into politics by contesting in the 2019 Indian general election from the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency as a candidate of the Janata Dal (Secular) party. Despite the historical stronghold of the Congress-JDS alliance in Mandya, he faced defeat by a margin of 128,876 votes against Sumalatha, the wife of late Kannada veteran Ambareesh.
Continuing his political journey, Nikhil participated in the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election from Ramanagara, a constituency previously represented by his father, mother Anitha, and grandfather H. D. Devegowda. However, he conceded defeat to Iqbal Hussain from the Congress party by a margin of 11,000 votes.
