Shakthisree Gopalan is an Indian vocalist, composer, songwriter, and performer known for her collaborations with top South Indian music composers like A.R. Rahman. She has made a name for herself in both film music and the independent music scene, exploring various genres such as Pop, R'n'B, trip-hop, and jazz.
Born and raised in Kochi, Kerala, Shakthisree completed her schooling at Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery. She later moved to Chennai and pursued a degree in architecture at Anna University's School of Architecture and Planning. Alongside her studies, she received 13 years of training in Carnatic music.
In 2008, Shakthisree participated in the SS Music Voice Hunt and emerged as the winner of the second season. Although she was underage at the time, this experience paved the way for her entry into the film industry. She made her debut as a playback singer with the song "Taxi 4777."
In addition to her film career, Shakthisree has actively performed and released independent music in multiple languages. She has collaborated with the band "Off the Record," consisting of Vikram Vivekanand on guitar, Satish Narayanan on bass, and Tapas Naresh/Vinay Ramakrishnan on drums. She has showcased her talent at various cultural festivals, including those held at Madras Christian College, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, SASTRA University, VIT University, and Madras Institute of Technology.
