Anand Kumar is an Indian mathematics educator renowned for his Super 30 program, which he initiated in Patna, Bihar in 2002. The program aims to coach and prepare underprivileged students for the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) entrance examination, called JEE-Advanced.
Super 30 selects 30 talented students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds each year and provides them with free coaching, accommodation, and other resources. Anand Kumar himself mentors these students, dedicating his time and effort to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams of studying at the IITs.
The success of Super 30 has been remarkable. As of 2018, out of the 510 students who participated in the program, an impressive 422 students secured admissions to the IITs. This outstanding achievement has gained international recognition, and the work of Anand Kumar and Super 30 was even featured in a documentary on the Discovery Channel.
Anand Kumar's efforts to uplift students from underprivileged backgrounds have earned him accolades and invitations to prestigious institutions. He has been invited to speak at renowned universities like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, where he has shared his experiences and discussed his programs aimed at empowering students from marginalized sections of Indian society.
