Manish Malhotra is an Indian fashion designer, couturier, costume stylist, entrepreneur, and revivalist based in Mumbai, India. He has been deeply entrenched in the twin worlds of fashion and film for the past three decades. He has styled and designed for more than thousands of movies and won numerous awards. He is known for redefining and modernizing how actors look in Indian films and reviving some of the country's forgotten crafts.
Malhotra was born in Mumbai in 1966. He studied fashion design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi. After graduating, he worked as a designer for a few years before starting his own label in 1994. His designs quickly gained popularity, and he soon became one of the most sought-after designers in India.
Malhotra has designed costumes for some of the biggest Bollywood films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Devdas, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He has also dressed some of the biggest stars in India, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Priyanka Chopra.
In addition to his work in Bollywood, Malhotra has also designed for international celebrities, such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Jennifer Lopez. He has also collaborated with brands such as Swarovski, Christian Louboutin, and Versace.
Malhotra is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian honors. He is also a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of India.
