Director
Vikas Bahl is an Indian filmmaker who gained recognition for directing and scripting the comedy-drama film "Queen" in 2013. He has had a diverse career in the film industry and has collaborated with notable directors and production houses.
Bahl was born and raised in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. After completing his schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya and graduating from Ramjas College, Delhi, he moved to Mumbai to pursue an MBA degree from SVKM's NMIMS. Initially, he began his career in advertising and worked in client servicing before joining UTV Spotboy.
In 2011, Bahl co-founded Phantom Films along with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena. As a director, he has collaborated with several renowned filmmakers such as Vishal Bhardwaj, Anurag Kashyap, Rajkumar Gupta, and Vikramaditya Motwane.
Bahl made his directorial debut in 2011 with the film "Chillar Party" under UTV Spotboy, which he co-directed with Nitesh Tiwari. The film received critical acclaim and won the National Film Award for Best Screenplay and Best Children's Film.
In 2014, Bahl directed the independent film "Queen," starring Kangana Ranaut. The film was a major success and garnered widespread critical acclaim and audience appreciation. It became a defining film in Bahl's career and established him as a talented director.
However, his subsequent film, "Shaandar" in 2015, which was a destination wedding film, received mixed reviews and was not commercially successful.
Bahl also directed a short film titled "Going Home" in 2014, which featured Alia Bhatt and focused on women's safety. The film received widespread attention and became viral on social media platforms.
His next directorial venture was the biographical film "Super 30" in which Hrithik Roshan portrayed the role of mathematician and IIT-JEE coach Anand Kumar.
Currently, Bahl is reported to be directing the first installment of Tiger Shroff's action franchise titled "Ganapath - Part 1." The film is scheduled to release in January 2022 and will be produced by Jackky Bhagnani under Pooja Entertainment, as well as Bahl's new production house, Good Co.
Vikas Bahl's career has been marked by a mix of critical and commercial successes, and he continues to be an influential filmmaker in the Indian film industry.
