Anees Bazmee is a prominent Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer celebrated for his contributions to Indian cinema. Born into a Gujarati Muslim family, with his father being the renowned Urdu poet Abdul Hameed ‘Nerang’ Bazmee, Anees Bazmee's artistic journey began early. He started as a child actor, featuring in movies like "Kitaab" (1977). He then transitioned into the film industry by becoming an assistant director for Raj Kapoor's "Prem Rog" (1982) and subsequently embarked on his screenwriting career with "Swarg" (1990).
In 1995, Anees Bazmee marked his directorial debut with "Hulchul." However, his breakthrough in terms of commercial success arrived with the 1998 film "Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha," which emerged as one of Bollywood's highest-grossing films that year. Bazmee's directorial prowess primarily shines through in the comedy genre, with blockbuster hits such as "No Entry" (2005), "Welcome" (2007), "Singh Is Kinng" (2008), "Ready" (2011), "Welcome Back" (2015), and the more recent "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" (2022). Additionally, he received acclaim for his directorial work on the romantic thriller "Deewangee" (2002), which achieved moderate success.
Anees Bazmee's filmmaking journey also includes the completion of the film "Naam" in 2004, which was slated for release in 2022.
