Choreographer
Prabhu Deva is an Indian choreographer, film director, producer and actor who has worked predominantly in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada language films. In a career spanning 32 years, he has performed and designed dancing styles and has garnered two National Film Awards for Best Choreography. In 2019, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to dance.
Prabhu Deva was born in Mysore, Karnataka, India, on April 3, 1973. He is the son of Mugur Sundar, a choreographer for South Indian films. Prabhu Deva started dancing at a young age and learned Indian classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam from Dharmaraj and Udupi Lakshminarayanan as well as Western styles. He made his debut as a dancer in the 1986 Tamil film Mouna Ragam.
Prabhu Deva went on to choreograph dances for many successful films in the South Indian film industry. He is known for his innovative and energetic dance moves, and his work has been praised by critics and audiences alike. He has won numerous awards for his choreography, including two National Film Awards and several Filmfare Awards.
In addition to his work as a choreographer, Prabhu Deva has also acted in films. He has starred in several commercially successful films, including Kadhalan (1994), Love Birds (1996), Minsara Kanavu (1997) and VIP (1997). He has also directed a few films, including the 2013 Hindi film ABCD: Anybody Can Dance.
