P.T. Usha, whose full name is Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha, is a former Indian athlete and one of the country's most renowned sprinters. She was born on June 27, 1964, in Payyoli, Kerala, India. Usha is often referred to as the "Queen of Indian Track and Field" and is widely regarded as one of India's greatest athletes.
P.T. Usha specialized in sprinting and hurdling events. She represented India at the international level for over two decades, participating in numerous prestigious competitions, including the Olympic Games and the Asian Games. Usha gained recognition for her exceptional speed, agility, and versatility in various track events.
One of Usha's most memorable performances came at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where she narrowly missed winning a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles event. Her fourth-place finish remains the closest an Indian athlete has come to winning an Olympic medal in track and field.
Apart from her Olympic stint, P.T. Usha achieved remarkable success at the Asian Games. She won a total of 14 medals at the Asian Games, including four gold medals, five silver medals, and five bronze medals.
