Abhinav Apjit Bindra is an Indian Olympic gold medalist, retired sport shooter, and successful businessman. He holds the distinction of being the first and one of only two Indians to win an Individual Olympic Gold Medal. His remarkable career in shooting has left an indelible mark on Indian sports. Bindra made history at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he clinched the gold medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle event, becoming the first Indian to achieve such a feat. He also held both the world and Olympic titles concurrently for the men's 10-meter air rifle event, having won the gold medal at the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships. Over the course of his 22-year career, Bindra has amassed an impressive collection of more than 150 medals in various national and international shooting competitions. He has also showcased his talent at the Commonwealth Games, where he won a total of seven medals, including four gold medals, and at the Asian Games, where he earned three medals. Bindra's outstanding contributions to Indian sports have been recognized with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award from the Government of India. He is regarded as one of the country's top influencers in sports policy. In addition to his sporting endeavors, Bindra has ventured into the business world and has found success in various entrepreneurial pursuits. After narrowly missing out on another medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he announced his retirement from competitive shooting, marking the end of a remarkable career.
