Tanmay Dhanania is an Indian actor who was born in Calcutta. He pursued his education in Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, before undergoing formal training as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
He has appeared in various notable projects across film and web series. In the TV series "Indian Summers" (2015), he portrayed the character Naseem Ali Khan. He also played the role of Ajay in the film "Brahman Naman" (2016), which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival. This film holds the distinction of being India's first Netflix Original.
Tanmay Dhanania portrayed Prince Jeejeebuoy in the TV series "The Durrells of Corfu" and Phanishwar in the film "Garbage," which premiered at the 68th Berlinale and is available on Netflix.
He appeared in the film "Cat Sticks," which won the Jury Award at the Slamdance Film Festival in 2019 and is available on Mubi. Tanmay Dhanania played the lead role in the film "Nazarband" (Captive), which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2020. His performance in this film earned him a nomination for the Best Actor award at the New York Indian Film Festival in 2021.
He also appeared in the film "The Rapist" by Aparna Sen, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2021 and won the Kim Jiseok Award. Additionally, Tanmay Dhanania made his Malayalam feature film debut with "Nishiddho" (Forbidden), which won the KR Mohanan Award at the International Film Festival of Kerala. His performance in the film garnered him his second Best Actor nomination.
Tanmay has also appeared in web series such as "Made in Heaven" on Amazon Prime, "Zero Kms" and "Mafia" on Zee5, and most recently, "SCOOP" by Hansal Mehta on Netflix.
