He comes from a family with a strong musical background, with his father being the renowned ghazal singer Chandan Dass and his maternal grandfather, K. Pannalal, who was a highly accomplished musician working for Delhi All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Having grown up in such a musically inclined environment, Namit received classical music training from his father and Bhavdeep Jaipurwale. While he initially pursued singing, he eventually found his true passion in acting and decided to focus on it. Despite this, his musical talent has not gone unnoticed, as he has released an album with Anurag Shanker, featuring five tracks.

Namit Das tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Shruti Vyas on February 15, 2015. Shruti is also an actress, known for her work in theater and film. She has appeared in various advertisements, including a notable OLX Womaniyan ad where she was the face of OLX. Shruti happens to be the sister of actor Sumeet Vyas, adding to the connections in the entertainment industry within their family.
