Roopal Tyagi is an Indian choreographer and television actor. She was born on October 6, 1989, in Bangalore, India. Roopal received her education at Sophia High School in Bangalore. She trained at Shiamak Davar's dance institute in Bangalore and later had the opportunity to assist Bollywood choreographer Pony Verma in the song "Mere Dholna" from the movie "Bhool Bhulaiyaa." After shuttling between Bangalore and Mumbai for two years, she eventually settled in Mumbai to pursue her career.
Roopal Tyagi began her career as a choreographer in 2007. She made her acting debut with the role of Mansha in the TV show "Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah." She also appeared in the Zee TV show "Kasamh Se" produced by Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms. However, she gained significant popularity for her portrayal of Gunjan in the Indian soap opera "Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke."
In 2015, Roopal Tyagi participated in the eighth season of the dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" as a wildcard entrant. She also participated in the reality show "Bigg Boss 9," where she was paired up with Digangana Suryavanshi. Roopal was eliminated from the show in the second week of voting.
Roopal Tyagi has received recognition for her performances and has won awards for her role as Gunjan in "Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke." She won two Zee Rishtey Awards in 2012, one for Favorite Behen (sister) and another for Favorite Nayi Jodi (new couple). She was also nominated for the Fresh New Face category at the Indian Telly Awards in 2013.
In 2020, Roopal Tyagi wrote an open letter on her Instagram, where she criticized the portrayal of the main female character and the regressive nature of certain aspects of the series. She expressed her views on the need for more progressive and inclusive storytelling in television shows.
