Hailing from Mumbai, Maharashtra, Jiya Shankar was born to Surekha Gavli. She embarked on her acting journey in 2013, making her debut in the Telugu film "Entha Andanga Unnave," alongside Ajay Manthena. She continued to explore different cinematic territories, featuring in the Tamil film "Kanavu Variyam" opposite Arun Chidambaram in 2017.
Jiya's television career commenced in 2015 with her portrayal of Alisha Rai in Bindass's "Love by Chance." Her breakthrough on television came in 2016 when she took on the role of Shreya Dixit Rathore in &TV's "Queens Hain Hum." Subsequently, she gained recognition by portraying Dr. Iravati "Ira" Pandey in the comedy drama series "Meri Hanikarak Biwi" on &TV.
Her versatility extended to Sab TV's "Kaatelal & Sons," where she portrayed Susheela "Susheela" Ruhail Solanki opposite Paras Arora. Further expanding her horizons, she starred as Nisha Katkar in the Marathi movie "Ved," alongside Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh. The film's success underscored her acting prowess and marked her entry into the Marathi film industry.
In 2023, Jiya Shankar took on a new challenge by participating in the reality game show "Bigg Boss OTT 2."
