Karthik Sivakumar, known by his stage name Karthi, is an Indian actor who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He was born on May 25, 1977, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Karthi is the younger brother of popular actor Suriya and the son of actor Sivakumar.

Before venturing into acting, Karthi initially worked as an assistant director under renowned filmmaker Mani Ratnam. He made his acting debut with the film "Paruthiveeran" in 2007, which garnered him critical acclaim and several awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Karthi completed his education at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Crescent Engineering College, Chennai, and a Master of Science in industrial engineering from Binghamton University in New York. While pursuing his master's degree, he also took elective courses on filmmaking.
