Sriya Reddy is an Indian actress, television presenter, and video jockey known for her work primarily in Tamil and Telugu films. Born on November 28, 1983, she is the daughter of former Indian cricketer Bharath Reddy. Sriya initially gained fame as a successful video jockey at SS Music before venturing into acting.
After making her debut in the film "Samurai" in 2002, Sriya went on to appear in several Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films. Some of her notable productions include "Black" (2004), "Thimiru" (2006), and "Kanchivaram" (2008). "Black" marked her entry into Malayalam cinema, where she portrayed the role of a Tamil village woman searching for her missing husband. Her performance in "Thimiru" received critical acclaim, and she was praised for her portrayal of a rustic, loud woman with negative shades. In "Kanchivaram," an art film directed by Priyadarshan, Sriya played a pivotal role, earning critical acclaim and nominations for various awards.
Before pursuing acting, Sriya gained popularity as a video jockey on the music channel SS Music. She hosted shows like "Connect" and "Phonetastic" and became a familiar face among young viewers. Despite her parents' initial reluctance, Sriya accepted her first acting assignment in a Telugu film. Her debut release, however, was "Samurai." She took a break from films for over a year after her Telugu film "Appudappudu" failed at the box office.
In her personal life, Sriya married actor-producer Vikram Krishna in March 2008. Vikram Krishna is the son of veteran film producer G. K. Reddy and the brother of actor Vishal Krishna. Sriya and Vikram have a daughter named Amalia. After a hiatus of eight years, Sriya made a comeback to acting with the film "Andaava Kaanom" directed by Vadivel, where she portrayed the character of an angry village woman named Shanthi.
