Karan Johar, born Rahul Kumar Johar on May 25, 1972, is a prominent Indian filmmaker and television personality in the Hindi film industry. He is widely known as KJo and is the son of renowned film producer Yash Johar. Karan Johar is the owner of Dharma Productions, a production company through which he has launched the careers of numerous successful actors.

Johar made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy-drama "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" in 1998, which garnered him critical acclaim and several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, the Filmfare Award for Best Director, and the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay. He followed it up with other successful films like "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..." (2001) and "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" (2006), which were major hits both domestically and internationally.

In addition to directing, Johar has also produced several notable films under Dharma Productions. He produced the critically acclaimed spy thriller "Raazi" (2018) and the biographical war film "Shershaah" (2021), both of which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Film.
