Guneet Monga, born on November 21, 1983, is an Indian film producer known for her outstanding contributions to the industry. She is the founder of Sikhya Entertainment, a boutique film production house that has produced notable films such as "Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1," "Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2," "Peddlers," "The Lunchbox," "Masaan," "Zubaan," and "Pagglait." Monga's productions have received critical acclaim and have been recognized both nationally and internationally.
In 2018, Monga became one of the first producers from India to be inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She served as an executive producer on "Period. End of Sentence.," which won the 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film. This recognition further solidified Monga's position as a prominent figure in the global entertainment industry. She was also voted as one of the top 12 women achievers in the industry by The Hollywood Reporter and recognized among the top 50 Indians changing India by India Today.
Monga's success continued in 2023 when she won her second Academy Award for the Netflix documentary short, "The Elephant Whisperers." Her work has consistently demonstrated her talent, dedication, and ability to produce impactful and award-winning films.
In 2021, Monga was honored with the Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government, recognizing her significant contributions to the arts and letters.
Guneet Monga was born in Delhi into a Sikh family. She completed her primary education at Bluebells School International and earned a degree in mass communications from Madhubala Institute of Mass Communication and Electronic Media, affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi in 2004. Her educational background has played a role in shaping her career and contributing to her success in the film industry.
