Naresh Iyer, born on 3 January 1981 in Mumbai, is an Indian playback singer known for his versatile singing in multiple languages. He is fluent in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Marathi. With his exceptional talent, Naresh has rendered around 2000 film songs in various Indian languages and has delivered numerous chart-topping hits.
One of Naresh Iyer's notable achievements was his rendition of the song "Roobaroo" from the film Rang De Basanti, composed by A.R. Rahman. The song topped music charts for several weeks in 2006 and earned him the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He was also honored with the Filmfare award in the R.D. Burman Musical Talent category.
Naresh Iyer was discovered by A.R. Rahman during his participation in the reality talent show Channel V's Super Singer. Although he did not win the show, Rahman recognized his talent and approached him. Naresh made his debut with the song "Mayilirage" from the film Anbe Aaruyire. He has since collaborated with various composers in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam languages.
In addition to his playback singing, Naresh Iyer is the lead vocalist of a fusion band based in Mumbai called Dhvani.
