Mohammed Irfan is an Indian playback singer known for his work primarily in Hindi music industry. He has also lent his voice to songs in Tamil, Kannada, Odia, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi languages.
Born in Hyderabad, Irfan completed his schooling at All Saints High School. His talent was recognized by his teacher, Ramachari, who trained him in music. Irfan's passion for singing led him to participate in various singing competitions, including Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star 2, Amul STAR Voice of India, and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, where he was a part of Ismail Darbar's Yalgaar Ho Gharana.
Irfan gained the attention of veteran singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam during a concert in Hyderabad, which led to him being recommended to A.R. Rahman. Rahman then offered Irfan the opportunity to provide background vocals for the song "Behene De" in the 2010 film Raavan, along with Karthik. The song became a chart-topper and received critical acclaim.
In the same year, Irfan recorded two songs, "Salaam Zindagi" and "Rehmat Zara," for the film Lamhaa, composed by Mithoon. His performance in "Rehmat Zara" earned him the Best Male Singer Debut award.
Irfan's breakthrough came with the song "Phir Mohabbat" from the film Murder 2, where he collaborated with Arijit Singh and Saim Bhat. The song was commercially successful and received widespread radio airplay. He has since collaborated with various music directors, including Sajid-Wajid, Himesh Reshammiya, Meet Bros Anjjan, and Jeet Ganguly.
Some of Irfan's notable songs include "Dil Sambhal Ja Zara" from Murder 2, "Baarish" from Yaariyan, "Muskurane" from Citylights, "Banjaara" from Ek Villain, "Dard Dilo Ke" from The Xpose, and "Tu Hi Tu" from Kick. His rendition of "Banjaara" received commercial success, and he was recognized for his impressive vocals in the Bollywood music scene.
