Kailash Kher, born on 7 July 1973, is a prominent Indian music composer and singer known for his unique style influenced by Indian folk music and Sufi music. His music is deeply rooted in traditional Indian sounds, and he draws inspiration from renowned classical musicians such as Pandit Kumar Gandharva, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, and Qawwali maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
In recognition of his contributions to music, Kailash Kher was honored with the Padma Shri award by the Indian government in 2017. He has also received two Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer, one for the Hindi film Fanaa (2006) and another for the Telugu film Mirchi (2013). His powerful voice and distinct musical style have made him a beloved playback singer in the Indian music industry.
Kailash Kher has composed music scores for numerous films, including Chandni Chowk To China, Dasvidaniya, Sacred Evil, Sangini, and Desi Kattey. He has also penned lyrics for a few films, such as Chandni Chowk To China, Dasvidaniya, Kaal, and Traffic Signal.
