Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, born on October 7, 1981, is an Indian playback singer known for her expertise in playing the Gayatriveena, a rare musical instrument. She hails from Vaikom in Kerala, India, and later moved to Chennai.
In 2013, Vijayalakshmi received a special jury mention for her outstanding work in the film Celluloid, which was highly appreciated. Her talent and contribution to the music industry have been recognized and honored by the Government of Kerala. In 2022, she received the prestigious Kerala Sree Award, which is the third highest civilian award given by the Government of Kerala.
In terms of her personal life, Vijayalakshmi got engaged to Santhosh, a Bahrain-based technician, in December 2016. However, she called off the wedding suddenly, citing that her fiancé insulted her because of her blindness and requested her to stop performing on stage. Her decision to call off the wedding received praise and support on social media. Later, on October 22, 2018, she married N. Anoop, a mimicry artist, at the Vaikom Sree Mahadeva Temple. Unfortunately, they got divorced in June 2021.
