Anitha Shaiq is an Indian playback singer and music composer, living in Mumbai, India. She performs Indian classical, sufi, Ghazal, folk and pop music, having sung in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Oriya, Punjabi, and Tamil languages. In her 12 years in the film industry, she has recorded more than 100 songs for films.
Shaiq was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, to Sirajuniza Begum, a secondary school music teacher, and Sheikh Ebrahim. She graduated from the Government College for Women, majoring in music. She has studied Hindustani, Sufi, Carnatic, and Western music.
Shaiq began her career as a playback singer in 2007 with the song "Mazha Mazha" from the film Killaadi. She has since sung for over 100 films in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Oriya, Punjabi, and Tamil languages. Some of her most popular songs include "Chandamama" from the film Rock N Roll, "House Full" from the film House Full, and "Dhak Dhak" from the film Alexander The Great.
Shaiq has won several awards for her work as a playback singer, including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Malayalam (2010) and the Vijay Award for Best Female Playback Singer (2010). She was also nominated for the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the film Minnaminnikkoottam (2008).
