Sunny M.R. is an Indian music composer, music producer, sound engineer, and playback singer. He gained recognition for his work in the Telugu films "Swamy Ra Ra" (2013) and "Uyyala Jampala" (2013). His music in these films received positive reviews, with Musicperk.com rating the album highly and praising its experimental yet simple approach.
Sunny M.R. won the Global Indian Music Award and the Mirchi Music Award for the Hindi film "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (2013). He was recognized as the "Best Music Arranger cum Programmer" and "Song Programmer cum Arranger of the Year" in 2014.
Early Life: Sunny M.R. studied at St. Anne's High School in Patna. He began his career in the music industry by working as a sound engineer, assisting his accomplished brother, Shadab Rayeen. At the age of 15, Sunny became an independent sound engineer. He gained experience in mixing, arranging, and composing various tunes during his time at Keerthana Digital Studios in Hyderabad, Telangana, where he worked for six years.
Career: During his time at Keerthana Digital Studios, Sunny collaborated on 350 albums, mastering ragas from Carnatic music. Initially, he had a dislike for Carnatic tunes but later realized that jazz is a harmonized version of Carnatic music. He started to appreciate and work on albums with Carnatic ragas. Sunny then moved to Mumbai to meet Sandeep Chowta, a music director, and joined as a sound engineer.
Inspired by late Anil Kumar, a music director, and Krishna Chaitanya, a Telugu songs lyricist, Sunny decided to pursue a career as a music director. He got his breakthrough when director Sudheer Varma selected him for the Telugu film "Swamy Ra Ra." Sunny M.R. is also a part of the innovative Open Music Community called Blogswara, where his entry as a music director was appreciated by the team.
