Parattu Raveendran Sreejesh, commonly known as Sreejesh, is an accomplished Indian field hockey player who specializes in the goalkeeper position. He has also served as the captain of the Indian national team. Sreejesh has made significant contributions to Indian hockey and has been recognized for his exceptional skills and performances.
Sreejesh has represented India in numerous international tournaments, including the Summer Olympics. One of his notable achievements came at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where he played a pivotal role in helping the Indian team secure a bronze medal in the men's field hockey tournament. His remarkable goalkeeping skills and leadership were instrumental in India's success at the Olympics.
In recognition of his outstanding performance, Sreejesh was awarded the FIH Player of the Year Awards for the best male goalkeeper in the 2020-2021 season. This accolade highlights his exceptional abilities and his status as one of the top goalkeepers in international hockey.
Sreejesh's journey in field hockey began in 2004 when he joined the Junior national team and made his debut in a match against Australia in Perth. He then progressed to the senior national team, making his debut at the South Asian Games in Colombo in 2006. Over the years, he has faced tough competition from other talented goalkeepers but managed to secure a regular spot in the team starting from 2011.
Throughout his career, Sreejesh has garnered several individual awards and recognitions. He was honored as the 'Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament' at the 2008 Junior Asia Cup and the 2013 Asia Cup. These awards highlight his exceptional goalkeeping abilities and his impact on the team's performance.
