Bollywood Male Actor
Varun Dhawan is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films. He was born on April 24, 1987, to film director David Dhawan and Karuna Dhawan. He comes from a Punjabi Hindu family and has an elder brother, Rohit Dhawan, who is also a film director.
Varun Dhawan started his career in the film industry as an assistant director to Karan Johar in the movie "My Name Is Khan" in 2010. He made his acting debut in 2012 with Karan Johar's teen drama "Student of the Year," alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The film was a commercial success, and Dhawan received praise for his performance. He went on to star in several successful films such as "Main Tera Hero," "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania," "Badrinath Ki Dulhania," "Dilwale," "ABCD 2," and "Judwaa 2."
In addition to romantic comedies and action films, Varun Dhawan also ventured into different genres and received critical acclaim for his performances in movies like "Badlapur" and "October." He continued to deliver successful films like "Sui Dhaaga" and "Kalank."
However, Dhawan faced a setback in his career with films like "Street Dancer 3D" and "Coolie No. 1" receiving mixed reviews and performing poorly at the box office. Nevertheless, he bounced back with the comedy-drama film "Jugjugg Jeeyo" and the horror-comedy "Bhediya," both of which were commercially successful.
Apart from his acting career, Varun Dhawan has also performed on stage and co-hosted award ceremonies. He has been featured on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2014 and is known as one of India's highest-paid actors.
In addition to his film projects, Varun Dhawan is set to star in Nitesh Tiwari's action film "Bawaal" opposite Janhvi Kapoor and the Indian spinoff of the American drama series "Citadel," directed by Raj & DK.
