Upen Patel, born on 16 August 1982, is an Indian actor and model primarily known for his work in Bollywood. He has also participated in various television reality shows, including Bigg Boss 8 and Nach Baliye 7, and co-hosted MTV Love School with Karishma Tanna.
Upen Patel was born in India and belongs to a Gujarati family. However, he grew up in London, England. In terms of his personal life, he dated actress Karishma Tanna from 2014 to 2016.
Upen Patel made his Bollywood debut in May 2006 with the film "36 China Town," directed by Abbas-Mustan. He gained further recognition with his role in "Namastey London" (2007), where he portrayed a Pakistani Muslim living in London. In April 2007, he appeared in the film "Shakalaka Boom Boom," which was produced and directed by Suneel Darshan. He also had roles in movies like "Money Hai Toh Honey Hai" and "One Two Three" in 2008. In November 2009, he appeared in "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani." Patel expanded his acting career to the Tamil film industry with his debut in the movie "I" in January 2015, directed by S. Shankar.
Apart from acting, Upen Patel worked as a host for the weekly cooking show "Cook Na Kaho" until March 2005 when he was replaced by Shayan Munshi. He also participated in the reality TV show "Bigg Boss" with the intention of boosting his career. Upen Patel was a contestant on Nach Baliye 7, a dance reality show produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms, along with Karishma Tanna. They reached the finals of the show.
Throughout his career, Upen Patel has been recognized for his style and looks. He has been awarded the Model of the Year title for four consecutive years at the Asia Fashion Award and has been listed among the top 10 sexiest men in Asia for five years in a row. MTV India awarded him as the most stylish male for two consecutive years.
Additionally, Upen Patel has appeared in several music videos, including DJ Suketu's "Kya Khoob Lagti Ho" in 2005. Directed and choreographed by Ahmed Khan, the music video featured special effects and was known for being one of the most expensive music videos of its time produced for a private album
